Unrestricted funds

  • UNRESTRICTED FUNDS  - Income from the following unrestricted funds is utilized by the Westfield Foundation Trustees to support the Foundation’s ongoing grants program, addressing community needs and supporting programming to enhance the Westfield community.                    

Westfield Foundation Unrestricted Fund   (Established 1975)  The Foundation’s initial unrestricted fund, this fund has grown and continues to grow through the donations of community-minded individuals and companies.             

Charles F. and Florence M. Wallace Fund   (Established 1981)  A fund established initially by the Wallace family as the Westfield-Wallace Fund.  The source of the original fund was the Wallace & Tiernan Company.  Consideration is given, in making grants, to the needs of organizations previously supported by the Westfield-Wallace Fund, to addressing new  and compelling  community needs, and to supporting innovative programs. This fund annually provides $35,000 to the Westfield Rotary Club for scholarships.

Nancy F. Reynolds Fund   (Established 1994 )  A fund established by a bequest under the Will of Nancy F. Reynolds, who for many years owned and managed a Westfield real estate firm.

Robert L. Rooke Fund   (Established 1994)  A fund established by the Will of Robert L. Rooke, who had been the oldest member of the New York Stock Exchange and a partner with Merrill Lynch.  Mr. Rooke was a 65 year resident of Westfield who was a major benefactor of the town throughout his long life.

Glasser Family Fund   (Established 1994)  This fund was established by Dr. Gerald J. Glasser.  Dr. Glasser is a past trustee of the Westfield Foundation (1997 – 2003) and served as Foundation President from 2001-2003.

Charles W. Anderson Fund  (Established 1998)  A fund established by the Will of Charles W. Anderson.  This bequest of over $1,000,000 is the largest single bequest ever received by the Foundation.

Lee M. and Anne M. Hale Fund  (Established 1998) A fund established by Lee M. and Anne M. Hale. Mr. Hale has been active in numerous community organizations, is a past trustee of the Westfield Foundation (1989 – 1995) and served as the Foundation President from 1992 – 1994.

Gary P. and Jill Rowley Sitcer Family Fund  (Established 1998)  A fund established by Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sitcer.  Mrs. Sitcer is a past trustee of the Westfield Foundation (1994 – 2000), served as chairman of the Fundraising Committee, the Nominating Committee and the Scholarship Committee and sat on the Grants Committee.

Santoriello Family Fund (Established 1998)  A fund established by Mr. and Mrs. Peter A. Santoriello. Mrs. Santoriello is a past trustee of the Westfield Foundation (1994 – 2000), served as Chairman of the Endowment Committee, and sat on the Fund Raising and Grants Committees.

E. Alfred and Mary D. Herberich Fund (Established 1999)  A fund established by E. Alfred and Mary D. Herberich.  Income from this fund will support the Summer Youth Employment Program run by the Foundation.  Mr. Herberich was a past trustee of the Westfield Foundation (1979 – 1987), and was instrumental in founding the Summer Youth Employment program, which provides grants to area non-profit organizations to be used for salaried summer jobs for Westfield area youth.

John G. and Patricia S. Sully Fund (Established 1999)  A fund established  to further the charitable work of the Westfield Foundation by Mr. and Mrs. John G. Sully, longtime residents of Westfield.

Marjorie S. McCaulley Memorial Fund (Established 1999)  A fund established in memory of Marjorie S. McCaulley by her husband, Samuel McCaulley, a former Foundation trustee (1979 – 1989), to further the charitable work of the Westfield Foundation.

Donald H. Bagger Memorial Fund (Established 2000)  A fund established by the family and friends of Donald H. Bagger, to be used to benefit the community of Westfield.   Mr. Bagger’s son, Richard H. Bagger, is a former trustee of the Westfield Foundation (1995 – 2001).

Carolee C. Paschon Memorial Fund (Established 2000)  A fund established in memory of Carolee C. Paschon by David K. Paschon, a Westfield resident, to further the charitable work of the Westfield Foundation.

Margaret and Edward Stites Memorial Fund (Established 2001) A fund established by Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Stites in memory of Margaret and Edward Stites to further the charitable work of the Westfield Foundation.

Loretta M. Hengst Fund (Established 2002) A fund established by bequest under the Will of Loretta M. Hengst, a longtime Westfield resident, to benefit the community of Westfield.

Dettre Family Fund (Established 2002) A fund established by Mr. James T. Dettre to further the charitable work of the Westfield Foundation.

Harry Sturcke Fund (Established 2005)  A fund established by Mr. Harry Sturcke to benefit the community of Westfield.

Henry A. Span Memorial Fund (Established 2007) A fund established in memory of Henry A. Span by his parents, Gerald and Miriam Span, to benefit the community of Westfield.  Mrs. Span is a current Trustee of the Foundation.

Frederick W. and Betty K. Kopf Fund (Established 2007)  A fund established by the Kopf family to further the charitable work of the Westfield Foundation.

Metz Family Fund (Established 2007)  A fund established to recognize the generous donations of Louise Sydnor Metz and The Ruth and Peter Metz Family Foundation, to benefit the Westfield community.

DeMaio Family Fund (Established 2007)  A fund established by Dr. Joseph D. DeMaio to further the charitable work of the Westfield Foundation.   Dr. DeMaio is former trustee of the Foundation.

Bud and Gaile Boothe Family Fund (Established 2008)  A fund established by former Mayor Garland C. “Bud” Boothe, Jr. and his wife Gaile to benefit the Westfield community.

The Mount Family Fund (Established 2011)  A fund which will be the recipient of a Charitable Remainder Trust established by Pauline and Mark Mount.

The McKinley Family Fund (Established 2011).  A fund established by Ingrid McKinley, a former trustee of the Foundation, to support its community grants program.

The Cook Family Fund (Established 2012).  A fund established by Anthony J.R. (Tony) and Susan Cook, to support the community grants program.  Tony is a former Trustee and was President of the Foundation from 2010-2012.

The Alice and Bob Dillon Fund (Established 2013).  A memorial fund established in loving memory of Robert E. Dillon, who passed away May 9, 2012.  Bob’s many friends contributed generously in his memory, and Bob also left a bequest to the Foundation.  Bob was a Trustee of the Foundation from 1994-2000, and remained a valuable resource for many years after.
